Am I Balanced? Mixed media, 500 x 980 x 390 (mm), 2021
It is an experimental work to make a chair using industrial materials. In the case of a pipe, if it exceeds a certain diameter, elasticity is added to the property itself, and when there is no continuous external pressure, it does not bend and returns to a circular shape. The features of such a pipe transform it into a material that functions as both a frame and a cushion by itself.
The pipe, which is characterized by elasticity by an external force called a cargo band, is ready to return to its original shape if the balance of force is broken at
any time. The shape of the finished stool is also maintained with a minimum fixing device and is located at the boundary of balance and imbalance, so if the user moves the weight to one place, the shape collapses. However, after the tension is broken, the work faces another balance, and that state also exists in a new form that can be enjoyed as a new pose. A form considered to be in equilibrium is a state close to imbalance, and a state considered to be unbalanced is a state close to equilibrium.
